Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated parts of the Dwarka Expressway and the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) in Delhi, projects worth approximately ₹11,000 crore. This new infrastructure aims to alleviate severe traffic congestion in the National Capital Region (NCR), enhancing connectivity and significantly reducing travel times.

The 75.7-kilometer UER-II is designed as Delhi's third ring road. It will provide direct connectivity from West and South Delhi to Bahadurgarh and Sonipat in Haryana. This will considerably cut down travel time on the Delhi-Chandigarh route and beyond. UER-II is part of a larger corridor that will in the future connect five major expressways of the NCR: Delhi-Dehradun, Delhi-Meerut, Noida-Greater Noida, DND-Faridabad, and Yamuna Expressway. Of the 75.7 km of UER-II, 54.21 km lies in Delhi and 21.5 km in Haryana. The total cost of the project is ₹6,445 crore.

Additionally, the 10.1-kilometer Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway, developed at a cost of around ₹5,360 crore, will provide multi-modal connectivity to key locations such as Yashobhoomi, Delhi Metro’s Blue and Orange lines, the upcoming Bijwasan railway station, and the Dwarka Cluster bus depot.
